Richard Libby  -  RPT Mark of a Pro + / LTA Level 3

Academia Sanchez Casal Coach

Richard has been playing tennis since his teens and played for a number of clubs and teams across Hampshire. He has achieved the Mark of a Pro + qualification with the RPT and LTA level 3 Coach qualification. He later trained at the prestigious Sanchez-Casal Academy in Spain, where top players such as Rafa Nedal, Andy Murray and Martina Navratilova have trained.

Richard joined the Romsey & Abbey Club as a coach in July 2010 after returning from Spain. He has since taken over the junior training program as well as providing 1 to 1 coaching for adults and organising weekly club nights.

 

Richard Dennis  - LTA Level 2 Qualification

 

Richard Dennis joined the club as a junior in 2001 and soon started assisting on Saturday mornings as part of his Duke of Edinburgh service. He later took the BTCA Apprentice Course in 2004 and continued assisting with the junior sessions every Saturday.

Deciding to continue his development as coach, Richard completed his LTA level 1 qualification in 2009 and then completed his LTA Level 2 in April 2010.

Richard has been a valued part of Abbey Tennis Club and has had various positions within the club committee, including club treasurer, junior coach and currently club social secretary. Richard has also been the men's team captain since 2008 and is always looking out for players wishing to join the club teams.

Hugh Thomas  -  LTA Level 1 Qualification

 

Hugh Thomas is one of our newest coaches, having joined the club as a junior. He has been part of the club's coach development program which has enabled us to fund part of his LTA Level 1 coaches qualification. Hugh currently assists·at the·Saturday junior sessions with the·Richard Libby Tennis Academy and is looking to continue developing his coaching abilities and undertake his LTA Level 2 qualification next year.
